I worked with Charlie for several years in Jersey City. He was our go to guy when we had trouble. He was always willing to help you. He was a smart guy but more importantly a nice guy, who was well liked by everyone. Can't forget that grin and laugh when you messed up and he bailed you out. I had the pleasure of first meeting Charlie nearly 25 years ago, when he worked in Journal Square. A few years later I had the honor of working for him when he became my supervisor. In the 3 years I worked for him I learned so many skills I lost track; many of what Charlie taught me I still use to this day, 20+ years later. Not only was he a great supervisor and mentor, but just a great guy all around; always easy to approach and talk to. I'll never forget that laugh of his; when Charlie laughed, everyone laughed. I still vividly remember him walking into New Brunswick every morning and before he even took off his coat, he'd grab his coffee mug (which he used a pencil as a stirrer) that said "I'd rather be having a beer" and stick it under the still-brewing coffee pot; he'd say "Hey, I like my coffee fresh! Ha ha ha!" Charlie was usually the first to get there in the a.m. and the last to leave ... he never left until every problem got fixed the right way. I started missing Charlie the day I left New Brunswick nearly 19 years ago. I miss him even more now.

My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones on the loss of a truly magnanimous human being. Though I never met him in person, I worked with Charlie for 12 years and got to know him in such a way that I feel your loss is my loss also. He was remarkable in his technical knowledge and was helpful to everyone. Known by all, liked by all, and respected by all, he will be and has been truly missed and we are all the worse off for his passing away. Know that it was his humanity, affability, and down-home good-naturedness that made him that way. He was one of the good one.
