Obituary of Ewald A. Dora

Ewald "Big Walt" Dora of Hopatcong, NJ passed away on Monday, October 26 at home with loved ones and faithful companion "Bootz" by his side. He was 84. Big Walt was born October 8, 1931 in Poland to the late Adam and Emilia (Pencek) Dora and came to the United States in 1957. He owned and operated Hopatcong Plumbing & Heating for many years. Our Walt was a great, kind, loyal and funny man who enjoyed telling stories of the early days around Lake Hopatcong. He was never shy about expressing his deep love for his family and many canine companions through the years. Big Walt loved his time on Lake Hopatcong and his life shall serve as an example of strength and peace to all, even during his final days. We go forward with the hope to live our lives with the same goodness in our hearts. It was his work ethic which earned him the respect and admiration of family, friends and clients. Until our last heartbeat, Big Walt will always be remembered and missed. Big Walt was predeceased by the love of his life, Joan T. Dora in 1995. His niece Shirley Jacobs also passed previously. He is survived by his son, Walter Dora and wife, Robin his daughter, Deborah Fields, his cherished grandchildren, Katelin Wester and her husband, Mike, Brandon Dora, Alison Fields and Megan Fields, his adoring great grandchild, Aubrey Joan Wester, his sister Wilma Jacobs and brother Helmut Dora. Also surviving are niece Susan Jacobs, nephews, Michael Jacobs Jr., Wayne, Jason, Nicholas, and Adam Dora and faithful canine companion Bootz. Big Walt's Life Celebration will include visitation on Thursday, October 29th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ . There will be a funeral prayer service on Friday, October 30th at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Big Walt will be laid to rest at the Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mount Olive Twp., NJ.
