Obituary of Antonio "Pete" DiRoma

Antonio "Pete" DiRoma, 87, of Hopatcong passed away Thursday February 18, 2016 at home. Born in Newark, he moved to Hopatcong in 1966. Prior to his retirement, Pete was a shipper with Automatic Switch Co. (ASCO) in Florham Park. An Avid Boston Red Sox fan, Pete enjoyed old movies and musicals, puzzles, his large train set and his daily trips to Dunkin Donuts. In his younger days, he was a freehand artist. Pete also enjoyed wood crafting which he sold with his late wife, Dorothy. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee: Lensky) (2012). Devoted father of Tony and his wife Jill, Kathy Schuld and her husband Fred, Fran Soranno and her husband Bill and Christine McAvoy and her husband Chuck. Cherished grandfather of Patrick and Scott DiRoma, Jennifer and Christina Soranno and Chuck, Kevin and Ryan McAvoy. Loving great grandfather to Jaelynn McAvoy. Dear brother of Susan Pope and the late Lucille Clark and her husband Richard. Also, uncle to Richie Clarke and the late Joey Pope. Also, inlaw to Flo and Jack Reiss (both deceased), Larry Weis and deceased wife Ginny, Billy Venturi and deceased wife Lucille, John Dziadzio and wife Elaine, Ted Zlydasek and wife Sue and Linda Palma and deceased husband Bob. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Pete's Life Celebration on Tuesday February 23 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday February 24 at 10:00AM at St. Michael's RC Church in Netcong followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
