Obituary of Helen C. Peterson

Helen C. Peterson of Budd Lake, NJ passed away at St. Clare’s Hospital on March 9, 2016, at the age of 91. She was married for over 68 years to her husband, Bill, and is survived by her six children (Karen, Maureen, Kenneth, William, Richard and Robert), their spouses (Louisa, Jayne, Millie and Barbara), grandsons (James and his wife Samantha, Jeffrey and Cory), and her extended family of in-laws, nephews and nieces by whom she was cherished and will be deeply missed. Mrs. Peterson was very proud of her Bronx origin and long-time residency, and was a Yankee fan who could be found on most Summer evenings in front of her T.V. cheering for her team. In fact, she loved all of New York City where she was raised and where she worked in the stock brokerage industry for many years, even after her move to Hopatcong, NJ. A resident of Hopatcong for 39 years and then Budd Lake for the last 8 years, Helen Peterson’s pride in her home and gardening was apparent to all visitors. She was a fine cook who loved to try new recipes, and enjoyed gatherings where she could sing and exchange stories with her family and friends. All who knew her could see that her face would light up with a bag of Cheetos or powdered donuts, but nothing could compare with a visit from her family! Helen Peterson will always be loved and missed. Helen’s Life Celebration will include visitation on Saturday, March 12th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road in Landing, NJ. There will be a Catholic Prayer Service offered on Saturday evening, March 12th at 6:30 pm also at the funeral home. A cremation will be held privately.
