Obituary of Mary Joan Hoer

Mary Joan (nee: Flynn) Hoer of Hopatcong passed away Friday April 15, 2016 at home. She was 89. Joan was 1 of 13 children and was born in Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland. She came to the United States in 1949 where she met the love of her life, Rene. She lived in Washington Heights NY before moving to Hopatcong in 1968. A homemaker, Joan was a parishioner of St. Jude RC Church in Hopatcong and a member of its Altar Rosary Society. An avid reader, she loved her family and spending time with her friends at the Hopatcong Senior Center. Beloved wife for 62 years of Rene. Devoted mother of John Hoer (Anne), Richard Hoer (Sheryl), Peter Hoer (Debbie), Michael Hoer (Tracey) and Mary Alice Hoer DiNapoli. Cherished grandmother of Sean and his wife Jaanki, Ryan and his wife Victoria, Vanessa, Richard, Nicholas, Kaila, Alexa, William, Shaina, Emily, Brooke, Meagan and the late Erin. Loving great grandmother of Brynn Kelly. Dear sister of Kay, Gabe, Sister Barbara, Cyril and Jim. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joan's Life Celebration on Sunday April 17, 2016 from 3:00PM to 7:00PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday April 18 at 10:00AM at St. Jude RC Church, Hopatcong. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
