Obituary of William J. Weygandt

William J. Weygandt, of the Landing section of Roxbury Township, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Monday July 14. He was 60. Born on July 28, 1953 in Queens, NY to the late William and Helen Weygandt, Bill resided in Rockaway for 25 years before moving to Landing eight years ago. He worked as a software engineer for Acclivity in Rockaway. Bill was a bagpiper, an avid reader and a competitive weightlifter. He worked as an "over the road" truck driver and also held a pilot's license. Devoted husband of Ellen (Purcell), loving father of Rachel Kelly and husband Pete, Joelene Groves and husband Corey and Troy Weygandt and adoring grandfather of Grace Kelly, Colt Groves and Shawn Weygandt. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to celebrate Bill's life on Thursday July 17 from 3-7 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing. At 7:00 pm, the family will share their fond memories of Bill prior to the conclusion of the gathering.
