Obituary of Carolyn Jayne Zietkiewicz

Carolyn Jayne (nee: Ercole) Zietkiewicz of Mt. Arlington passed away Monday October 31, 2016 at home with her family by her side. She was 61 years old. Her passing was peaceful. Carolyn was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, where she attended Our Lady of Grace and St. Edmunds High School. She graduated from St. John’s University in 1977 with a bachelors in Speech Pathology. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Staten Island NY with her family. Carolyn and John married in March 1983 and the continued to raise their own family across the street from her mother and father. She and her family then moved to Mt. Arlington 10 years ago. Carolyn worked at Healthcare Associates of NY for over 10 years while living on Staten Island. She made lifelong friends while being the Human Resources Manager. Most recently, Carolyn was a speech therapist with the Mt. Olive School District, where she worked with children and young adults. She was passionate about her job and enjoyed working with the students and staff. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake RC Church in Mt. Arlington and was a member and past treasurer of the church’s Columbiettes. Carolyn enjoyed outdoor activities such as kayaking, camping, biking and gardening. Her favorite time of day was sitting on her stoop drinking coffee, early in the morning, with her husband. She also enjoyed reading and classic movies. Carolyn loved holidays with her family and friends. She would celebrate New Year’s Eve with the banding or pots and pans outside, but her favorite holiday was Halloween. She was the beloved wife of John Peter Zietkiewicz for 33 years. Devoted mother of John Antoni and Kathryn Zietkiewicz. Loving daughter of Giuseppe and the late Alice (nee: Krapf) Ercole. Dear sister of Ernestine Costa. Carolyn was predeceased by bothers Louis and Joseph Ercole. Carolyn was loved by all who met her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Carolyn’s Life Celebration on Thursday November 3 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday November 4 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of the Lake RC Church in Mt. Arlington followed by interment in the Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Twp. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) or enrolling with Be the Match to be a bone morrow donor. (www.bethematch.org)
