Obituary of William A. Newman

William A. Newman of Hopatcong, NJ passed away on Monday, January 2nd at St. Clare's Hospital Dover Campus surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old. William "Bill" was born on December 3, 1934 in Orange, NJ to the late Florence (Koeck) and the late William Newman. He resided in Hopatcong for the past 23 years and previous to that, he lived in Flanders, Madison, Orange, East Orange and West Orange. Bill worked his way from the shipping department up to Vice President of Finance at Monroe Business Machines in Morris Plains, NJ and more recently he was a Chief Financial Officer at Panurgy in Cedar Knolls, NJ. Bill proudly served as a demolition expert in the United States Army. He was an avid NY Giants Fan, liked his trips to the Jersey Shore, enjoyed researching genealogy and spending time on his computer. Bill was a proud graduate of Seton Hall University where he received his BA and his MBA. William is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Anne (Scalley), his daughter, Donna Newman, his sons, William B. and Keith, his step-daughter, Cheryl Mason and his step-son, Robert W. Mason. Additional survivors include his cherished grandchildren; Kate, Caroline, Winnie, Beatrice, Darrah, Rachel, Brendan, Jude, Robert, Mason, Kevin, Eli and Shawn and his brothers, Kenneth and Harold. Bill's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Monday, January 9th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a Catholic Prayer Service offered at 12:00 pm on Monday also at the funeral home. Bill will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Orange, NJ. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
