Obituary of Beverly J. Martin

Beverly Jane Martin, 87, of North Haven, NY died at 7:45 p.m. on January 20, 2017 at Merry Heart Senior Care in Succasunna, NJ. She was born March 24, 1929 in East Orange, NJ to Ruby and William McMoran. She married Donald Martin on April 16, 1949 and he survives. Also surviving are one son, Brett (Monica) Martin of Old Lyme, CT and four daughters, Susan (Jim) Cobb of Stanhope, NJ, Donna (Robert) Grossi of Pasadena, CA, Carol (Peter) Dray of Amagansett, NY and Kristine Martin (Kevin) of Virginia Beach, VA. She also leaves behind nine grandsons, Kori (Kory), Benjamin (Joelle), Christopher (Alissa), Andrew, Patrick (Kristen), Peter, James (Kelly), Evan and Tyler; and three granddaughters, Erica (Todd), Laura (Elliott), and Hannah; and eight great grandchildren, Jaylin, Ryleigh, Nicholas, Sophia, Hudson, Ella, Rebecca and Hayley; and a niece, Gail Montagna. Her mother, Ruby and her stepfather, Leo Kammerer and a son, Eric Carl Martin, preceded her death. Beverly was a long time resident of North Haven, NY where she lived after her husband’s retirement in a home built by her mother and stepfather in the 1950’s. She was raised in East Orange, NJ and graduated from East Orange High School in 1947. For most of her life, she was a consummate homemaker and devoted mother raising her six children mainly in New Jersey spending many summers with them on the Jersey Shore. Beverly enjoyed traveling and sailing with her loving husband of 67 years, bridge games, lively discussions of current events, reading newspapers and novels and treasured spending time with her large family and many friends. She loved to bake and entertain and hosted many memorable holiday meals. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Restland Memorial Park Chapel, 77 De Forest Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936. Burial will follow immediately after also at Restland. Arrangements are entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.
