Obituary of Rosa Hernandez

Rosa Hernandez of Stanhope, NJ passed away peacefully at home with her daughter by her side on Saturday, March 18, 2017. She was 93 years old. Rosa was born on December 26, 1923 in Victoria De Las Tunas, Cuba to the late Manolo and the late Leopoldina (Pons) Perea. She resided in Stanhope, NJ for the past 5 years and previously she lived in Queens, NY. Rosa worked for Merrill Lynch in NYC for many years before retiring at age 70. She was a devout catholic and an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Astoria, NY. Rosa also was the organist for 38 years and attended many religious retreats at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. More recently, she was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael's RC Church in Netcong. Rosa's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by her entire family who knew her to be a loving, gracious, beautiful, kind and generous person. Rosa is survived by her devoted daughter, Rosa Travieso, her granddaughter, Monica Del Rosario & her husband, Alex, her grandson, Eric & his wife, Kim and her cherished great-grandchildren who knew her as their BiBi, Alexander, Nico, Gio, Gigi, Jeter and Jackson. She was predeceased by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Rosa's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Friday, March 24th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at LeberLakeside Funeral Home in Landing, NJ. There will be a funeral mass on Saturday, March 25th at 9:30 am at St. Michael's RC Church, 4 Church Street in Netcong, NJ. Rosa will be entombed at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover immediately following the mass on Saturday. All services are entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
