Today, January 25, 2018, your would have been 85th Birthday...Dad...
You are gone but seven months, and I continue to be grateful...that you got your ultimate wish...no helpless, wasting away time in an elderly nursing facility. You would never have put up with it. We all knew it, you told us all. Sure, I would have loved to have you around, if only till 90...and you did go out in an unexpected flash.It is as a neighbor spoke of you.."Rudy was lucky, he lived till he died." So very true, the story of your life...Your dangerous childhood, growing up in WW 2 Germany...Your survival time and time again...and the fun stuff...The Boating, Camping,Your Music, Dancing, Your Artwork...
Eleven of us here in the US owe our very existence to that very fact...Thank you...Dad, Grandfather,and Great Grandfather...from all of us and the many other family members and friends both here and in Germany who "really" knew you...and appreciated you...we will always miss you...
We will carry on all the good stuff as we continue to move it into a future which you paved for us... and that includes your dream of a lifetime sailboat. John and I hope to work on her and sail her into Short Beach this summer, sharing your dream with the next generation with the hope that they too can come to love the ocean and the outdoors as much as you always did...
