Kathleen Killen

Obituary of Kathleen Mary Killen

Kathleen Mary Killen, 64, of Hopatcong, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Newark on March 26, 1953, to the late Charles and Helen (Malone) Segreto, “Kathy” grew up there and has resided in Hopatcong for 40 years.

Kathy was the epitome of what a mother, wife and grandmother should be.  She was devoted to her family unconditionally.  Her two children found their lives filled with love and support, even while Kathy cared for their ailing father, Stephen who passed away in April of this year.  Kathy enjoyed shopping with her daughter and best friend, Lisa and the two were often side by side in the spa getting “mani-pedi’s”.  Kathy shared her unique sense of humor, often at the perfect time and usually under trying circumstances.  She had a keen sense of what others needed and would often provide it at a moment’s notice.  Most important, Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister whose greatest joy was spending quality time vacationing, and dinners with family.

In addition to her husband, Stephen, Kathy was predeceased by her sister, Carol Joy Calvitti and a feline companion “Pink-A-Doo”.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Magrini and husband, Brian, son Stephen and his fiancée, Christine, three grandchildren, Brielle and Ava Magrini and Tyler Killen, a sister Charlene DiBella and her husband, Joe and a twin brother Charles Segreto.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Kathy’s Life Celebration will include visiting on Tuesday August 1, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday August 2 at 10:30 AM at St. Jude Parish, 17 Mt. Olive Road, Budd Lake, NJ.  Kathy will be laid to rest, with her late husband, Stephen, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, NJ on Thursday August 3rd at 11:30 AM.  For memorial donations, please consider  The Dylan Flinchem Rock-On Foundation, 14 Lenape Road, Stanhope, NJ 07874, www.dylanrockon.org or Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
