Obituary of William Cooper, Jr.
William Cooper, Jr., 79, of Hopatcong, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 7 at Merry Heart Care Center in Succasunna with his devoted wife, Diane by his side.
Born in Wilkes Barre, PA on November 6, 1937 to the late William and Josephine Cooper, Bill resided in Olyphant, PA prior to moving to Hopatcong in 1985. He was the co-owner of East Coast Fire Protection Corp. in Hampton, NJ. Bill enjoyed fishing and boating, was a classic car enthusiast and the proud owner of a 1958 Ford Fairlane Convertible and a 1949 Mercury Club Coupe. Bill and Diane enjoyed relaxing and vacationing at their cottage on Opinicon Lake in Ontario, Canada. They also enjoyed motorcycle riding in their younger days.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Diane (Sobosky) and many close friends.
Bill's Life Celebration will include viewing on Tuesday September 12 from 5-7 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A funeral Liturgy will be offered on Wednesday September 13 beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Jude RC Church, 40 Maxim Drive, Hopatcong, the funeral home will open at 9:30am on wednesday for family and friends. NJ. Cremation will be private. Bill's cremated remains will be entombed at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Green Township, NJ on Friday September 15 at 11:00 AM. All are invited to meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Diane would appeciate a Mass Card in memory of Bill.
