Obituary of William H. McNear

On Thursday September 14th, William H. “Billy” McNear went to join his son Willie in heaven.  Billy, 62, succumbed to a year-long battle with the nasty disease, cancer.  He died peacefully at home with his wife Kathryn at his side.

In his life, Billy loved his wife and son dearly. He also had a love for bulldozers, trucks, cars and guns.  He enjoyed weight lifting, martial arts and the beach.  Billy graduated Rutgers University in 1977; he was president of McNear Excavating where he worked for 40 years.  Having just retired, he and Kathryn were looking forward to relocating to Jupiter, FL, this winter.

Billy is predeceased by his loving son, Willie, father-in-law Ed, and parents Betty Jane and William McNear.  He is survived by Kathryn, his wife of 33 years, his brothers in law Tom, Gary and Ronald, sisters in law Linda, Angel, Thalia and Malissa,  mother in law, Joan Marron, and his nieces and nephews: Thomas, Jordan, Nicole, Lexi, Cory, Jade, Christopher and Liam, who all loved their “Uncle Woolie”.  He also is survived by his siblings Robin Sue Bourlier and Mark D. McNear, as well as many friends that will all miss him greatly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, from 12pm-5pm at the funeral home. A Prayer Service will be held at 2:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider Compassionate Care Hospice, 350 S.
