Obituary of John Francis Wolcott

John Francis Wolcott, 65, of Rockaway, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Sayre, PA, John resided in Rockaway since 1977. He was an NJIT alumni and was employed by Kearfott Guidance and Navigation in Little Falls, NJ for 40 years, with the title of Senior Quality Engineering Specialist. He worked on the Trident Missile and the Global Hawk for the US Air Force. John was a fan and minority stockholder of the Green Bay Packers, enjoyed watching Game of Thrones, as well as, Harry Potter movies and lightning storms with his kids. He loved watching his late son, Jason, play football for Johns Hopkins University. John was a former volunteer with both the Boy Scouts of America, acting as Cubmaster, and the Rockaway Township Volunteer Fire Co. #5. He enjoyed the music of The Doors, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. One of his favorite TV shows was The Honeymooners and he was very fond of the holiday classic, A Christmas Story.

John was a loving father and a devoted husband whose greatest joy was spending time with his family.

John was predeceased by his two sons, John, Jr. and Jason, his parents, Leo and Vivian and a brother, William.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Young), a son, Shawn and his wife, Samantha and eight siblings, Margaret Galvin and husband, Richard, Josephine, Mary Devine and husband Thomas, Stephen and wife, Peggy, Gregory, Vincent and partner Cathy, Bernadette Ciani and husband, Jerry and Daniel and fiance Sarah. Additional survivors include his father- in- law and mother- in -law, Alfred H. Young, III and Milane Young, sister- in- law Denise Young and brothers- in- law, Alfred H. Young IV and partner Doreen and Joseph Young. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John's Life Celebration on Sunday September 24 from 4-8 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Liturgy of Christian burial will be offered on Monday September 25 beginning at 10:30 AM at ST. Michael's Church in Netcong. John will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Valerie Fund at www.thevaleriefund.org.
