Obituary of Josephine M. Ferrer

Josephine Margaret Ferrer, 70, of Stanhope, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday October 4, 2017.

Born on April 28, 1947 to the late Thomas and Mary Keyes in Morristown, NJ, "Josie" has resided in Stanhope for 45 years. She worked as a secretary and in the lunch program at Stanhope Public Schools for 25 years. When her children were young, she was involved in the Little League and HSA program. Josie enjoyed crafting and sewing. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, caring for her husband, Donald for many years. Above all, Josie was always there for her family and friends whom she loved spending time with. A breast cancer survivor, her grandchildren have described her as powerful, loving, feisty, amiable and creative.

In addition to her parents, Josie was predeceased by her husband, Donald and three brothers Jerome, Matthew and Thomas.

Survivors include her children, Christopher, Kimberly and Kevin, six grandchildren, Bethany, Nicholas, Miranda, Trinity, Isabel and Brenden, her siblings, Vincent ,Edmund, Gerald, Mary, Theresa, Adrian and Ann. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Josie's Life Celebration will include visiting on Sunday October 8, 2017 from 3:00-6:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will be offered at 5:30 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Alzheimer's Association or the Stanhope Fire Department.
