Obituary of Frank A. Dreitlein

Frank A. Dreitlein of Hopatcong passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover. He was 89. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided in South Ozone Park, Queens and Brooklyn before moving to Hopatcong in 1972. Frank worked as a machinist in Long Island and retired from Stapling Machines Corporation in Rockaway, NJ. A Navy veteran, Frank served as a Water Tender in World War II aboard the USS Belleau Wood. He served in the Pacific for two years receiving the Presidential Unit Citation and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 13 stars. He also served aboard the USS Harris during the Cuban missile crisis. Frank was Honorably Discharged as a Machinery Repairman 1st Class after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Post # 9914 of Hopatcong, a member of the 4th degree and Color Corp, the Fleet Reserve Association, Naval Reserve Association, American Legion of Stanhope Post, Y's Men Club of the YMCA West Morris Randolph, avid Model "N" scale railroader and a volunteer for many years for the Dope Open Golf Tournament. Frank is a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake RC Church, Mt. Arlington where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He also was member of the Senior Citizens in Hopatcong. Beloved husband of Grace (nee DiBari) with whom he married 68 years ago. Loving father of Wayne P. Dreitlein. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great great-nieces and great great-nephews. He is predeceased by his brother George and his sister Anna Will. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake RC Church, Mt. Arlington or the YMCA West Morris Area in Randolph, NJ.
