Obituary of Mary A. Opitz

Mary A. Opitz formerly of Landing, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Andover Subacute & Rehab Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 92 years old. She was born on March 10, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Charles and Mary (Diuoffio) Senatore.

Mrs. Opitz was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime resident of Mt. Arlington Borough and an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake RC Church. Mary enjoyed walking, sewing, the beach, singing in the choir and senior citizen trips but most importantly, she loved spending time with her cherished family.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Sandra Stone and Mary Murphy and her sons, Randolph Opitz and Anthony Opitz. Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Tina, Melissa, Elena, Joseph, Michael, Alyssa and Erica, her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nolan, Riley, Ethan, Henry, Evan and Lillian and her brother, Fred. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Francis J. in 1979, her sisters, Rose and Jean and her brothers, Patrick, Dominic, Joseph, Louis, Frank and Charles.

Mary's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Wednesday, October 3rd from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a 5:30 pm Catholic Prayer Service at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. For memorial donations, please consider the American Cancer Society.
