Obituary of Minnie Dawson

Minnie Dawson, 73, of Vanceboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 4, 2018 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover, NJ.

Born in Washington, NC, on July 11, 1942 to the late Thomas and Nettie (White) Dillahunt, Minnie resided most of her life in Brooklyn, NY prior to moving to Vanceboro, NC. She worked as a Senior Clerk in Data Entry for the New York Stock Exchange and Senior Operator in Stock Certificates for DTC in New York City prior to retiring in 1985.

Minnie loved to travel anywhere and everywhere. She was a volunteer and member of the 39'ers Club in Cove City, NC. Above all else, the most important thing to Minnie was her family.

Survivors include four children, Portia Center (Kenny Collazo), Pamela Black (Mark), Shonda Dawson (Raymond Duncan) and JoDaundee Dawson (Cheryl Martineau), her husband, Jonathen Dawson, "honorary" Calvin Bell, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sister, Margaret Bryant (Henry), two "honorary" sisters, Shirley Pires and Pansie Frater, dear sister-in-laws Lula Mae Bond, Betty Smith (Andrew), Dorothy Hargett(Alden), Ora Mewborn and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.

Minnie's Life Celebration will include visiting on Saturday November 10, 2018 from 2-4PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will begin at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate live plants and/or dish gardens.

I waited patiently for the LORD;

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;

Many will see the fear

To those who lapse into falsehood.

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders

Which you have done,

And Your thoughts toward us;

There is none to compare with You.

They would be too numerous to count.
