Obituary of David William Hughes

David William Hughes, 91, of Hopatcong, passed away, peacefully, on Monday January 14, 2019 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover Campus.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on May 16, 1927 to the late Robert and Rose Ann (Amato) Hughes, David resided in Hopatcong for many years. He served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. He attended Defiance College & Seton Hall University. David was a self-employed plumber and a member of the NJ State League of Master Plumbers. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Hopatcong Fire Department with over 20 years of service.

David was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Reagan) in 2016, daughter, Roberta in 1997 and brother, Philip in 1995.

Survivors include his children, Ellen (Jim), David, Brian and Willy (Kathy), sister Veronica White (Arthur), grandchildren, Amanda, Katie, DJ (Jenna), Eric and Kimberly and great grandchildren, Anthony, Mason, Aiden and Harper. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

David's Life Celebration will include visiting on Saturday January 19, 2019 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 noon at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will be offered at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately. IN lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
