Obituary of Gloria Dvornick

Gloria Dvornick of Lake Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.  She was 94.  Gloria was born on December 17, 1924 in Paterson, NJ to the late John and the late Carmella Brescia.

In her early years Gloria was an advertising executive at Conors Department Store in Paterson, NJ.  After marring, Mrs. Dvornick became a teacher in the Dover Public School System for many years where she served as president of the Dover Education Association.  Gloria earned a bachelor’s degree in education with a certification for K-8 and a masters of arts degree in reading specialization which included basic skills K-12.  Gloria believed in the quote “start where you are with what you have and make it better”.  She was an active parishioner at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church and also served as a teacher in the church’s CCD program.  Gloria loved listening to opera music, playing golf and traveling but most importantly, she cherished her time with her family and many dear friends. 

Gloria is survived by her devoted sons, John Jr. and Michael, her step-son, Jon and his wife, Mary Linda.  Additional survivors include her cherished grandson, Robert, step-grandchildren; Christopher & his wife, Lauren, Robin & her husband Bradley, Ronald, Sherry and step-great-grandchildren Blaine and Stella and her sister, Tina Fusilli.   She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, John Sr., and her siblings; Peter, Rocco, Carmen and Ceil.

Gloria’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Tuesday, March 19^th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.  There will be a funeral mass on Wednesday, March 20^th at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 204 Espanong Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ.  Gloria will be laid to rest at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.  All services are entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home in Landing, NJ.
