Obituary of Mary Eileen Vespignani
Mary Eileen (nee: Doyle) Vespignani of Hopatcong passed away Friday April 19, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Dover.
She was 97.
Eileen, as people knew her, was born and raised in Jersey City where she lived until 1970, having also been a summer resident of Hopatcong since 1950. She moved to Hopatcong permanently in 1970.
She was a graduate of St. Aloysius grammar school and high school in Jersey City. She almost finished nursing school at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, but eloped with her husband during WW2.
Eileen was a receptionist at the dental office of Dr. Jay Yarnis in Hopatcong for 44 years. She retired at the age of 94 when Dr. Yarnis decided to retire. She was driving until the age of 95.
A parishioner of St. Jude RC Church in Hopatcong for over 50 years, she was an avid reader of the newspaper and murder mystery books and a crossword puzzle/word search game enthusiast. She loved being able to keep in touch with family and friends via Facebook using her Kindle. A life-long NY Yankee fan, Eileen also enjoyed the opera. In her younger days she enjoyed flower gardening. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter and later her niece Mary Ellen having been all over the US, to Ireland multiple times, and also to Italy and Spain with her son.
Beloved daughter of the late William Alexius Doyle and Mary Ellen Murtha, and wife of the late Dr. Pasquale Vespignani. Devoted mother of Arthur Vespignani and his wife Karen and Terry Bond and her husband Rob. Cherished grandmother of Arthur Vespignani Jr. and his wife Kathleen, Joseph Vespignani and his wife Loredana, Kelly Bond and Molly Bond. Loving great grandmother of Vincent, Michael and Santino Vespignani. Dear sister of the late James Doyle, the late Agnes Casserly and the late William Doyle Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held May 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude RC Church, 40 Maxim Drive, Hopatcong.
