Obituary of Jane A. O'Connor

Jane A. O'Connor, 89, passed away on Friday September 6, 2019 at St. Clare's Hospital, Denville Campus.

Born on August 8, 1930 in Elizabeth, NJ, Jane was a resident of Hopatcong for more than 60 years prior to moving to Mt. Arlington three years ago. She worked as a secretary assistant at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway and was the lead secretary for the Child Study Team at Hopatcong Borough Schools for 27 years. Jane volunteered for Girls Scout Troop 500 in Hopatcong where she served as Troop Leader for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening and feeding many animals around her home.

Jane was predeceased by her husband, Paul.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen "Kookie" McNerney and her partner Dean Stein and Karen Cooper and her husband, Michael and Jane's "Adopted Family" Dilek and James Heath and their children James, Andrew and Didem.

Jane's Life Celebration will include visiting on Friday September 13, 2019 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Jude RC Church, Hopatcong. Jane will be laid to rest at St. Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ.
