Obituary of Jerome Burger

Jerome "Jerry" Burger of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2019 at St. Clare's Hospital Dover Campus surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old. Jerome was born on June 22, 1935 in Bronx, NY to the late David and the late Sally (Jacobs) Burger. Mr. Burger proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a longtime resident of Hopatcong, NJ. Jerry had a long and extensive career as a Credit Manager on the business side of fashion industry. He was an avid nature lover and supporter of animal advocacy organizations such as the ASPCA, the Nature Conservancy and the Audubon Society and a past president of the Democratic Party Club in Hopatcong and a troop leader in the Boy Scouts of America. Jerry also was a longtime fan of the NY Yankees, the NY Rangers and Duke Basketball but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Judy, his sons, Michael Burger & wife, Amy, Paul Burger and Robert Burger & wife, Michelle and his cherished grandchildren; Emily, Matthew and Emma and his brother, Leslie Burger & wife Julie. Jerry's Life Celebration will include a Funeral Service on Friday, September 20th at 11:00 am at Leber Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. Family and Friends are invited to gather 1 hour prior to the service. The interment with full military honors will take place at the New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY 11704. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the United Jewish Appeal, 42 East 69th Street, NY, NY 10021. All services are entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
