Thinking of you today, just as we do every day
So here is a message we're sending your way:
Dear Joe Bro,
You give me this one thought to keep,
You're with me here, I shall not weep.
You are a thousand winds that blow,
You are the diamond glints on snow.
You are the sunlight on ripened grain,
You are the gentle autumn's rain.
When I awaken in the morning's hush,
You are the swift, uplifting rush.
We do not think of you as gone,
You're with us still, in each new dawn.

Dear Joe,
We are thinking of you today.
It is 4 long years since went to heaven.
Chapter 3 of Ecclesiastes says:
“To everything there is a season
And a time to every purpose under the heavens,
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant and a time to uproot the plant.
A time to kill and a time to heal;
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn and a time to dance.
A time to love and a time to hate;
A time of war and a time of peace.
Whatever God does will endure forever;
There is no time adding to it or taking away from it.
What is now has already been;
What is to be, already is.”
REST IN PEACE, DEAR BROTHER JOE

Dear Joe Bro,
Life is but a stopping place,
a pause of what's to be,
a resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
different paths along the way,
we all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay.
Our destination is a place,
far greater than we know,
for some the journey's quicker,
for some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
we'll claim a great reward,
and find an everlasting peace,
together with the Lord.

Dear Joe,
Yesterday, April 19th, dear cousin Joe P. passed away peacefully at home.
I know he's joined you in Heaven because as I put the garage door up,
suddenly I was startled by chattering of birds at my feet on the driveway.
There were two beautiful red cardinals chirping gleefully. I believe in my
heart and soul, those two cardinals were the spirits of you and cousin Joe!
According to legend, cardinals are a sign sent from Heaven from our dear
departed loved ones that they are watching over us. What a great comfort
that is. I pray for your souls and also that you may rest in peace eternally.

A Salute to Joe quoted from his favorite great late radio commentator
Paul Harvey, who said this about America's policemen and women:
"A policeman is a composite of what all men and women are, mingling
of a saint and sinner, dust and deity...Buried under the frost is fact:
Less than one-half of one percent of policemen misfit the uniform.
That's a better average than you'd find among clergy! He must make
an instant decision which would take months for a lawyer to make.
But... if he hurries, he's careless; if he's deliberate, he's lazy.
He must be able to: start breathing, stop bleeding, tie splints and, above all,
be sure the victim goes home without a limp. The police officer must know
every gun, draw on the run, and hit where it doesn't hurt.
He must be able to whip men twice his size and half his age without damaging
his uniform and without being "brutal." If you hit him you're a "coward."
If he hits you, he's a "bully."
The policeman must be a minister, a social worker, a diplomat, a tough guy
and a gentleman. And of course, he'd have to be a genius...
for he will have to feed his family on a policeman's salary!"
With Paul Harvey, we salute Joe and America's policemen and women.
Their dangerous job keeps us feeling safe at home and on the streets.
Job well done, Joe. Rest in Peace, dear brother.

In our thoughts for the New Year:
Those we Love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
So loved, so missed, so very dear.
Never forgotten, little brother!
Love, Mary and Angela

Joe was known to many to be a true and loyal man, especially to his family, a virtue he learned from our own beloved Dad. Against all odds, together Joe & Janet honored their marriage vows for 56 years, raising two children. He tried in earnest to rear them to be decent, respectable adults who lived a wholesome life and be happy on whatever path they chose to travel.
With much assistance from our dear Mom, Joe ran a successful painting and decorating business. His customers followed him for years because he treated them fair and square and they knew it.
With further encouragement from Mom, he then went on to become an officer of the law, serving 30 plus years on the Belleville Police Force. Joe's dependability, loyalty and dedication was exhibited in his every day job performance; thus receiving numerous commendations for his heroic deeds. he was deeply committed to his beloved town of Belleville. Having been inspired by our Dad, his work ethics were superior, never missing a days work while driving 40 miles each way in rain, snow and sleet on icy roads!
What a guy, our Joe!!!
Well liked by many, Joe's friendship to those he chose carefully was steadfast and unwavering. That was one of his greatest strengths. The strong principles by which he lived were instilled in him by our devoted, caring parents, Angelo & Antoinette, whom he honored by naming his children after them.
Because they had inspired us to be good people, Joe was surely a good person. That's why he has been loved by and will be missed by so many of us. We all have happy memories of Joe and these we must hold dear in our hearts, cherish them, as he cherished each of us.
In the end, Joe fought the fight of his life. Sadly, he lost that courageous battle. For that, he will always be a hero to his two loving sisters.
Although we are unable to be present at your final farewell, your spirit will remain alive in our hearts forever. Until we are all reunited in the Kingdom of God, may our Heavenly Father grant you peace and eternal rest.
Love you, Joe! Mary & Angela

We sure had some fun times with Joe...and some difficult times as well. I’ll miss his quirky sense of humor, his old fashioned takes on honor and respect, and life in general. Will also miss his poignant storytelling, and that shy kind of smile he had whenever he talked about the love of his life, my good friend Janet. You fought a good fight Joe! You did it your way...and I know you’re smiling down on us from up there...salute! Janet and Angelo, you know I’m grieving with you all,,,xoxoxo
