Obituary of George Owen

George Owen of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Care One at Morris surrounded by his loving family. He was 75 years old. George was born on July 22, 1944 in West Wyoming, Pa. to the late John and the late Mary Ann (Vanhaekan) Owen. George was a graduate of Dover High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Owen was custodian employed by the Dover Public School System for many years before retiring. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching, football, baseball, wrestling and NASCAR. He was a fan of the NY Mets and the Dallas Cowboys but most importantly, George loved spending time with his devoted family. George is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Patricia (Pierce), his devoted daughter, Kimberly, his siblings, Diane Donnelly & her husband, Chip, Edward Owen and David Owen. Additional survivors include; his sisters-in-law, Sherly Owen and Kathy Lesineski, brother-in-law, Robert Pierce & his wife Joann and his niece Marissa. He was pre-deceased by his son, Arthur in 2004 and his brother, Ron in 2009. George's Life Celebration will include a memorial service with full military honors to be announced by the family at future date.
