Obituary of Anna Marie Macatician
Anna Marie (Farber) Macatician of Lake Hopatcong passed away October 1, 2019, 9 days after her 94th birthday. She was born on September 22, 1925, to Joseph and Helen in Tamaqua, PA. Anna Marie attended Saint Jerome's school and was in the graduating class of 1943. Afterwards, she worked for Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator in Tamaqua.
She married John Macatician in December 1948 and settled in Lake Hopatcong (over 60 years ago). They went duck hunting, enjoyed activities on the Lake, walked their dogs and played golf. Anna Marie worked at Reaction Motors, Thiokol, and Dover General hospital as a switchboard operator.
In April 1974, Anna Marie lost her beloved husband John.
Anna Marie was a caring person, always considerate of others. Seems she never outgrew her small town ways, always greeting everyone with a wave or a smile, which resulted in making a lot of friends. She retired from Dover General Hospital in 1981 after 18 years of service.
She was a member of the Lakeland Seniors and Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.
Anna Marie enjoyed feeding the birds and watching the "wrenie" nest in the spring. Nature was her teacher. She loved flower gardening, playing cards with her card group, going to flea markets, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles. Perhaps all the mental exercise is what kept her mind sharp all her life. She adored her dogs, they were her loyal companions (Ginger, Suzy, Raisin, Missy and Honey).
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father Joseph F Farber, her mother Helen (Maguire) Farber, her brother Joseph F Farber, Jr (Violet), her sister Mary E Panasik (Paul), and her nephew John G Farber (Veronica). "Aunt Reedy" is survived by her nieces and nephews Mary Ann Skok (Keith), Paul Panasik (Carol), Susan Panasik, Stephen Panasik (Cathy), Joseph F Farber III, Rose Ann Truselo (Tom), Helen Farber, Barbara Peck (Addison), Patricia Farber, and great nieces and nephews.
Anna Marie was blessed with so many wonderful friends. She cherished their time together, the daily phone calls and visits. She often said how thankful she was for the support of her friends and good neighbors that made it possible for her to stay in her home. This was so important to her.
As she would say - "I couldn't have done it without you - Thank you ever, ever so much"
Anna Marie's Life Celebration will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 9:30am to 10am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 204 Espanong Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ.
