Obituary of James S. Gilmer

James S. Gilmer, 80, of the Succasunna section of Roxbury Township, passed away on Tuesday October 15, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in Spartenburg, SC on August 10, 1939 to the late William and Elizabeth (Shields) Gilmer, James resided in Kearny, NJ until 1969 when he moved to Succasunna.  He was the owner operator of Gilmer Termite and Pest Control in Succasunna which remains a family owned and operated company.  James was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping trips to New York State with his friends, sons and grandchildren.

James was predeceased by his son, Kevin in 1989 and brother, William in 2017.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Minervino), two sons, James W. and Jayson M. and wife, Carrie and three grandchildren, Jayson, Kaitlyn and Ryan.

James’ Life Celebration will include visiting on Thursday October 17^th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  A family eulogy and ceremony will be offered on Friday October 18^th beginning at 10:30 AM at the funeral home.  Friends and family are invited to gather at 10:00 AM Friday morning prior to the ceremony.  James will be laid to rest, with military honors, at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt.
