Obituary of Carmen A. DeGisi

Carmen A. DeGisi, Jr. 91, of the Landing section of Roxbury Township passed away on Wednesday October 16, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center. Born in Chatham, NJ on January 9, 1928 to the late Carmen, Sr. and Nellie (Profido) DeGisi, Carmen resided in Hopatcong prior to moving to Landing over 20 years ago. Carmen served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-52 and was the recipient of the Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. He was a member of the VFW Post #10101 in Hopatcong. Carmen was employed as a Silver-plater at Automatic Switch in Florham Park for 32 years prior to his retirement in 1998. He volunteered as an usher at St. Jude's RC Church in Hopatcong for many years and was a member of their Knights of Columbus Council. He also enjoyed bowling and playing softball. Survivors include his wife, Rita (Guggliotta) DeGisi, daughter, Joyce DeGisi, two grandsons, Daltin Vassallo and Jack Stevens and a sister, Connie Duffy. Cremation will be private.
