Obituary of Henriette Liker

Henriette "Penny" Liker of Hopatcong, NJ and formerly of Wayne, NJ died of natural causes on December 16, 2019 at the age of 90 at the Merry Heart Health Care Center in Succasunna, NJ surrounded by her loving family. Penny was born on December 5, 1929 in the Bronx, NY to the late Louis and the late Sarah (Brody) Handel. Penny was a beloved wife of the late Jack Liker for 64 years. She was mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Penny loved cruises – Jack and she went on 46 cruises worldwide – hosting family gatherings, exploring new places, reading , gardening, needlepoint, traveling the country and taking 46 worldwide cruises, but most importantly Penny loved spending time with her family and friends. Penny is succeeded by her daughter, Karin Frey of Hopatcong, NJ, sons, Stephen Liker of Sherman, CT and Jeffrey Liker of Ann Arbor, MI, six cherished grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Her brother, Bernard Handel and three sisters, Madelyn Morgan, Norma Gold and Shelly Burlon and their families all loved her and visited her often. Her children remember her as completely devoted to them, caring about all of their trials and tribulations and always giving sage advice. Reading voraciously, the music of their era, and watching her family grow. At her recent 90th birthday party celebrated with immediate family she dressed up and sang songs. Penny's private internment will take place in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. All services are entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
