Obituary of Shamir Shawn Segura

Shamir Shawn Segura of Hopatcong, NJ passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. He was 25 years old. Shamir was born on June 15, 1994 in Jersey City, NJ. Shamir was a graduate of Hopatcong High School and a longtime resident of Hopatcong Borough. He enjoyed watching and playing basketball, boxing, dancing, rapping, playing board games, music, making people laugh but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. Shamir is survived by his devoted parents, Jorge and Carolyn (Gollin) Segura, his siblings; Kennedy Segura, Milagro Segura, Jacob Segura, Esperanza Segura and Shawn Gironda, his paternal grandmother, Maria Blanco Quiros and his maternal grandmother, Jane Hoedel. Additional survivors include his aunts and uncles; Damaris Segura Blanco, Deyanira Segura Blanco, Eliecer Ortiz Godinez, Alexander Segura Blanco, Rita & Elmer Burd, Edward & Patricia Gollin, Gerard & Coleen Gollin, Ellen Barnett, Marie & Charles Fein, Martin & Bridget Gollin, and Marilyn & Eric Wills and many cousins. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Zelmira Segura, his paternal grandfather, Aquiles Segura Gamboa, his maternal grandfather, Edward Gollin, his maternal step-grandfather, Carl Hoedel, his uncles, Gerardo Segura Blanco, Carlos Segura Blanco and Emanuel Barnett. Shamir's Life Celebration will include a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, January 11th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a "Sharing of Words" by family & friends at 4:30 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.
