Obituary of Elizabeth I. Martin

Homemaker, Healthcare Administrator, Artist, 93 Elizabeth I. Martin, 93 died on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Morris View Health Care Center in Morris Twp. Born n Buffalo, NY, Elizabeth was raised to adulthood in Paterson, NJ. She graduated from Central High School and went on to study Secretarial Skills and Office Administration at Drakes Business College. She married, Thomas P. Martin, a NJ State Trooper, and they relocated to his assignment in Stanhope, NJ. Elizabeth resided in Stanhope for 42 years, where she raised her two sons. Upon her husband's death, she worked for Dover Hospital and St. Clare's Hospital as an Emergency Room and Office administrator. She completed her working years as Clerk for the Byram Township Board of Health. Elizabeth retired in 1982 and relocated to Dallas, Texas, where she rekindled a lifelong hobby of drawing and painting. She took seminars and instruction from numerous popular southwestern painters, and went on to be honored and awarded in many local exhibiting events. She was hired as an artist for specific consignments by local Dallas businesses. She returned to New Jersey in 1996 and resided in Parsippany where she was a Democratic County Committeewoman for 10 years. She served as an artistic advisor on the 2005 Mayoral campaign of Michael Luther. Elizabeth is survived by her two sons, Thomas and Michael, daughter in-law, Deborah, and three grandchildren, Melissa Frey, Michael Martin and Aimie Enderley, and four great grandchildren.
