Obituary of Leonardo A. Catalano

Leonardo A. Catalano, 91, of the Succasunna section of Roxbury Township passed away on Monday April 6, 2020 at his home. Born in Newark, NJ on November 18, 1928 to the late Giacomo and Maria (Rizzo) Catalano, Leonardo has resided in Succasunna for more than 60 years. He was a parishoner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Flanders where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Leonard was a Fourth Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus of Flanders and Netcong. He served proudly in the US Army fom 1947-48. He was a Nuclear Engineer at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover prior to his retirement. Leonardo was predeceased by his first wife, Joan in 1994 and son, Leonard in 2012. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Olson-Catalano, daughter, Lynda Volpe (Frank), son Robert Catalano (Michelle), grandson, Nicholas Volpe and two nieces, Karen Gavini and Kathleen Beyel. Out of an abundance of love and due to the recommendation of "social distancing" the family has prudently chosen to hold Leonardo's services privately. The family is planning to schedule a public Celebration of Leonardo's Life and a memorial Mass in the future. Arrangements are entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.
