Obituary of James Richard Kennon

James R. Kennon, 85, of Rockaway Township, passed away on Wednesday April 8, 2020 at Merry Heart Care Center in Succasunna, NJ. Born in Norfolk, VA on March 1, 1935 to the late Gerald and Sophie (Mitchell) Kennon, James resided in the Ledgewood section of Roxbury Township prior to moving to Rockaway approximately three years ago. Prior to retirement, he worked as a Warehouse Manager for George A. Matherson in Newark, NJ. James served proudly in the US Army. James rode bucking broncos and bulls in the rodeo, enjoyed watching black and white movies and reading and also drove midget race cars. James was predeceased by his wife, Arlene Kennon in 2006 and grandson, Uriel Florez in 2016. Survivors include a daughter, Mindy Ostoyic (Christopher), his companion Lynn Rotondo, step daughters, Lynn Marie Feorano (Matt) and Lisa Arnone (Ana), five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Out of an abundance of love and due to the recommendation of "social distancing" the family has prudently chosen to hold James's services privately. The family is planning to schedule a public Celebration of James's Life in the future. Arrangements are entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.
