James McNamara

Obituary of James M. McNamara

James (Jim) M. McNamara, 58, of Hopatcong, NJ passed away, peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on January 31, 1962 to the late Martin and Ann (Raper) McNamara, Jim resided in Hopatcong for 30 years. After earning his bachelor's degree from Montclair State University in 1984, Jim was employed as a Sales Manager at Emco Plastics in Cedar Grove, NJ. Jim was very active in his children's lives. He volunteered countless hours in Little League Baseball and Girls Softball, as well as boys and girls youth basketball. Jim was a passionate NY Giants and NY Mets fan and enjoyed golf, gardening, feeding the birds and spending time with his fur babies. Jim was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Mt. Arlington and a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Jude's in Hopatcong. Most important to Jim was spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Lewis. Survivors include his wife, Karen (Hoffman), two children Colleen McNamara and Patrick McNamara (DC2 US Navy), sister, Eileen D'Andrea, five brothers-in-law, Dennis D'Andrea, James Lewis, James Hoffman, Tony Hoffman and Ed Hoffman, six sisters-in-law, Debra Bogdanowicz, Linda Hoffman, Brenda Morrison, Nidia Hoffman, Josie Hoffman and Mindy Hoffman and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Out of an abundance of love and due to the restrictions of "social distancing", the family has prudently chosen to hold Jim's services privately. For memorial donations, please consider Divine Mercy Academy, 87 Halsey Avenue, Rockaway, NJ 07866. We have chosen this charity because for every fundraiser, especially the tricky tray on which he spent hundreds of dollars, Jim would say, "It's for a good cause." Arrangements are entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing, NJ.
