Jose Baird

Obituary of Jose E. Baird

Jose E. Baird, 79, of the Ledgewood section of Roxbury Township passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Regency Grande, Dover. He was born in Calceta, Ecuador on February 13, 1941 to the late William and Alejandrina (Solorzano) Baird. Jose worked for Colt, Elmwood Park for many years before his retirement. He loved writing, reading and telling really corny jokes while dancing through the night. Chivas Regel and Johnny Walker were good friends when they were out. He was reserved but strong when he needed to be. Painting would occur around objects and duct tape was the solution to all the world's problems. He always stated the obvious in the nicest of ways and never threaten one of his own. Master of ceremonies for every event while equipped with an American pin somewhere on his clothing. He welcomed everyone into his home and offered everything he had. The biggest fan of all eight grandchildren as he watched in the distance. Never outspoken but stopped the room when he had a thought. Worked more than he played but when the time came, everyone knew he was there. Some sought out his wisdom and everyone realized how special he was. Thumbs up became the sign of goodness and we will never forget him! Most importantly he was adored by his loving wife and three children. Survivors include his beloved wife, Nelly (Jalil), loving children Jose Baird Jr. and wife, Stacy, Johnny Baird and wife, Michele and his daughter Jenica (Baird) Eckerson and her husband Vincent. Cherished grandchildren, Alexandra, Taylor, Lana, Leilah, Nathan, Tristan, Luke and Caiden. He is also survived by 7 brothers and 6 sisters and many nieces and nephews and predeceased by 2 sisters and 1 brother. Out of an abundance of love and due to the restrictions of "social distancing", the family has chosen to hold Jose's services privately.
