Obituary of Emilio Amato

Emilio Amato of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old. Emilio was born on June 12, 1935 in Molfetta, Italy to the late Giovanni and the late Eleanora Amato. Mr. Amato was a Real Estate Agent and the owner of Amato Real Estate in Hoboken, NJ. Later he worked at Weichert Realtors in Landing. Emilio proudly served his country in the United States Airforce and was a member of the Inner Circle Association for many years. He was a graduate of Hoboken High School and enjoyed listening to Italian music and following Italian soccer but most importantly, Emilio loved spending time with his cherished family, especially his grandchildren. Emilio is survived by his wife, Maria (nee Vernola), his devoted children; Eleanor Leonard, Johnny Amato, Roseann Schult, Michele Tremblay and Anthony Amato, his adoring grandchildren, Joseph Leonard, John Michael Leonard, Amy Leonard, Rose Marie Schult, Ronald Schult, Ryan Tremblay and Anthony Amato and his great-grandchildren, Cayden Reid and Joseph Leonard. Additional survivors include his siblings, Giovina Uva, Clara Turchi, Salvatore Amato and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Mario Amato. Out of an abundance of love and due to the restrictions of "social distancing" the family has prudently chosen to hold Emilio's Life Celebration Services privately at this time.
