Mary Heddinger

Obituary of Mary Margaret Heddinger

Mary Margaret Heddinger of Budd Lake, NJ entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Morristown Medical Center with family by her side. She was 75. Born August 21, 1945 to the late George Novesl & Frances (Ptak), she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, and her brother, Joseph. She is survived by her son Daniel Heddinger and his wife Andrea, of Germany, and her daughter Jaime Hanf and her husband David, of NJ. Mary was also the proud and cherished grandmother to Liah Heddinger, Alexis Hanf and Kayla Hanf. She is also survived by her granddogs Sparky, Howie, and N.J., her cat Shadow, her dear sister-in-laws Mary Franer and Nina Heddinger Gruetzmacher, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Mary worked as a bookkeeper for Dietary Specialties before recently retiring. Prior to that, she worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Shoprite in Morris Plains, NJ and as an office manager for Channel Home Centers. Mary spent a great deal of time crocheting blankets of all sizes. She made them for friends and family, and she also recently donated 22 crocheted blankets to homeless veterans with service dogs in Newark, NJ. She has a soft spot for veterans because her son, Daniel, has been in the Army for the past 23 years and her husband was in the Navy for a brief period of time. Mary was very fond of The Seeing Eye, a guide dog school in Morristown, NJ where her daughter and son-in-law raise puppies to eventually become guide dogs. She helped raise seven of the nine puppies they raised and loved spending time with them before she was blessed with grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life service at some point in the future once quarantines and travel restrictions are lifted.
