Obituary of Walter J. Kowalski

Walter J. Kowalski, 67, of Byram Township, NJ passed away on Tuesday September 29, 2020 at Newton Medical Center. Born on September 5, 1953 in Dzierzgon, Poland to the late Joseph and Aniela (Gurdziel) Kowalski, Walter came to the United States in 1967 and resided in Bayonne prior to moving to Byram Township since 1990. Walter was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He served proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1972-75. Walter was a member of the American Legion Post #278 in Stanhope. He was a self-employed mason contractor. Survivors include his wife, Teri, three sisters, Mary Bochenek, Stephanie Arendarski, and Sophia DePinto, brother, Wesley Kowalski and wife Virginia and nieces and nephews, Wanda, Julian and Lisa Arendarski, Cassandra, Cosmo and Crystal DePinto and Kelsey, Kylie and Wesley Kowalski. Walter's Life Celebration will include visiting on Friday October 2, 2020 from 9:00 – 11:30 AM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Catholic prayer service will begin Friday at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Walter will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ.
