Obituary of Marilyn J. Barr

Marilyn Barr, 82, of Randolph, formally of Roxbury, passed away December 3rd from a long illness. The daughter of James and Marjorie Jackson, Marilyn was born January 4, 1938 in Haskell, NJ and was raised in Pompton Lakes, NJ, graduating from Pompton Lakes High School. Marilyn married her High School sweetheart, Walter, and raised her family in Hamburg, NJ for many years. She was active in the Hamburg community volunteering with the Hamburg First Aid Squad and the Girl Scouts. Marilyn worked as a secretary at the Sussex County Technical School for many years before retiring in 2000. Marilyn and her husband Walt moved to Roxbury in 1995. Marilyn was involved with the Roxbury Senior Club and founded the Roxbury Red Hot Red Hats. Marilyn cherished her time with her family and adored her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and many trips with the Roxbury Seniors. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Walter in 2000, her brother Doug in 2019, and her cousins Ginger and June who were more like sisters than cousins. She is survived by her daughters Pamela Sturm (Mark) of Mt. Arlington NJ, and Toni Barr of Rockaway NJ, her son Daniel Barr (Janet) of Hamburg NJ, her grandchildren Matthew and Christopher Sturm, and Meghan and Jimmy Barr. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Leber – Lakeside Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover and their hospice department for their wonderful care.
