Obituary of Joan Westerfield
Joan "Nanny" Westerfield, age 81, of Hopatcong, passed away at home on December 30th, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 19, 1939, in Jersey City, daughter of the late Joseph and Marion Delaney. Joan worked as an administrative assistant for both ACT Pace and Kenwood Electronics for many years. Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Raymond Westerfield; her sister, Theresa Sommers, and her niece, Jeanine Sommers. She is survived by her four daughters Sheryl (Rich Hoer), Linda (Chester Verdi), Robin (Walter Dora), and Jodi (Louis Pisillo), her eleven grandchildren, Kristin (Anthony Polster), Vanessa (Nicholas Petrucilli) , Rachael (James Berringer), Katelin (Michael Wester), Richard Hoer, Adam Verdi, Brandon Dora, Louis Pisillo, Dana Pisillo, Thomas Pisillo, Brooke Hoer, and her eleven great grandchildren Lily, Aubrey, Olivia, James, Jacob, Ella, Michael, Carson, Joseph, Amelia and Owen. Joan was known for being a patient and devoted wife to her loving husband, Raymond. Together, they enjoyed many road trips and cruises. She was a self-less, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She especially loved her role as Nanny. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She was present at every special event and always put her family first. She was a wonderful combination of warmth, kindness, strength and love.
