Obituary of Leon A. Hellmich

Leon “Lee” Hellmich, 76, of Hopatcong, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Denville. Born in Brooklyn NY on June 18, 1944, to the late Frederick Hellmich Sr., and the late Clara (Allen) Hellmich, Lee was an auto mechanic with Landing Auto Center in Landing, NJ. Lee served proudly in the United States Army and he was a “die-hard” New York Mets fan. Beloved husband of the late Mary “Maureen” Hellmich. Devoted father of Geraldine Hellmich-Conley (David), Sheila Hellmich, and Brian Hellmich (Heather), cherished grandfather of Kathryne & Thomas Orlandi, Deaven Lester, Raven Harell, Kayla, Ashlee, Shannah, & Cassandra Hellmich, Brian Bautista, and Crystal Busz. Also, survived by 14 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Trudy Hellmich, niece Karen Hellmich, nephew Fred Hellmich, sister-in-law Margaret Knox, and niece Margaret Austin. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lee’s Life Celebration on Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 2-4 PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A prayer service will begin at 3:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to your favorite charity in his name.
