Mr Hemlinger was truly a kind hearted individual, a wonderful mentor and an awesome teacher. I had Mr Hemlinger In Auto shop in the early 80ies at PHS. A Truly truly gifted person. He helped me rebuild my 79 thunderbird. Taught me so much about automotive repairs that I still do today. Always smiled and laughed. Just pure inspirational. Thank you Mr Hemlinger. Rest in Peace! My heart and prayers go out to the family ❤! Keep those muscle cars going.

I think I may have been one of the first girls allowed to take auto mechanics at PHS, along with Jeanne O'Brien. I learned a lot in his class and was honored to be a first in t future of more women learning about auto mechanics. Rest in Peace & thank you for your knowledge

Mr Hem was one of the best teachers I ever had. I honestly could fix my own breaks right now before I could solve a math problem using the pythagorean theorem, or even spell it without looking it up on google first. He was always clam and patient to everyone. He knew how to explain things. He drank black coffee from paper cups... Such a great techer, awesome mechanic, all around nice person. He'll be missed. I was lucky to have had him as a teacher. Rest in peace Mr. Hem.

I will always remember Uncle Roy with his humor and his smiley happy personality. I loved his laugh. I will alway remember him with his "nips" I think the bottles were called. This picture was from 8/2017 when we came to NJ for my cousins wedding. MAST RD has lost an amazing person.

I am so saddened to hear of Mr. Helmlingers passing. He was a tremendous teacher and mentor. I graduated in 1983 but the memories of his skill and teaching abilities are still fresh in my mind. I was working on a project car and it needed a new trans and I discussed my options with him. A day later he gave me the trans I needed and would not accept any payment. That is the kind of guy he was. My deepest condolences. Lou Santora Class of '83.

To the family and friends of "Mr. Helm",
Roy was one of those few people that made a lasting impression upon those of us fortunate enough to have known him. Throughout life's many twists and turns, we call upon our memories to find comfort and inspiration given to us by people in our past. Roy did that for me, as he did for countless others. His indelible influence upon my young mind years ago has helped me get through life's challenges; including when I learned of his passing moments ago. He truly was an inspiration for generations of his students. Rest In Peace, Mr. Helm, and Thank You.

Dear Bette and Family,
My sincere condolences to all who Roy's life touched, we have all lost a dear man.
To ask "For whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee".
We are all diminished by his passing.
I taught next door to Roy for 6 years decades ago and I am still buoyed by his memories. Always upbeat, ever friendly, constantly helpful, a real joy to be around. As life takes its turns, our paths wandered, but my memories are fresh and positive.
"Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you" was the motto in my high school yearbook. It is a timely message to remember the good times, let the lessons learned sink deep, pass to the next generation the best of life, and enjoy all the love Roy Helmlinger freely gave to all who passed by his side.
Roy, thanks for the memories. I am better for having known you.

I was a student of Mr. Helmlinger at Parsippany High School back in the mid 1970’s. He was so kind to all who came in contact with him. Reading the previous tributes, that are so beautiful, made me cry. Although he has passed, I hope that all who learned from him will carry a piece of him in our souls. Prays to his family.

I am very sorry to hear of Roy’s passing. He would make me call him Roy even though he had me as a student almost 40 years ago. He was always such a funny person and always happy to see me, even though I didn’t see him to often. I would play golf with he and Bud Wieder once in a while. Remember him as the best auto shop teacher EVER at PHS!! Thank you Mr Hemlinger. Neal Healy PHS Class of 83

I haven't seen Mr Helmlinger in years and was saddened to hear of his passing. He and my late husband, Frank Arminio, used to hang out at the the local 7-11 for coffee in the mornings. Every time I ran in to him he was upbeat and friendly.
I'm so sorry for your loss and pray for your peace in the days ahead,

My late husband was the youngest of the 7 Radler kids, who all attended Parsippany high school.. I'm sure he had a few of them in class. I shared this obituary on Facebook to the "Parsippany High School Alumni" group, and the "You know you're from Parsippany.." group. May you take comfort in seeing all the posts from all of those whose lives he touched. Prayers for Comfort and Strength to the entire family. God bless.
