Obituary of Kenneth H. Gahr

Kenneth H. Gahr of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, NJ surrounded by his loving family. He was 81 years old. Ken was born on October 24, 1939 in Newark, NJ to the late Harold and the late Ida (Frey) Gahr. Ken was a longtime resident of Hopatcong, NJ where he worked as a local real estate agent and also worked as an over the road truck driver. Ken enjoyed driving his boat (The Big Bopper) on Lake Hopatcong, driving his 2013 White Ford Mustang Convertible and cutting his grass but most importantly he loved spending time with his loving family. Mr. Gahr proudly served his country in the United States Navy and along with his wife, Gerry, traveled to every state in the US except Hawaii. Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Gerry, his, son Erik Mattson, his daughters, Kim Mattson and Tamblyn McVey & her husband, Frank, and his cherished grandchildren, Rhett, TJ, Sean, Jared and Tatum. He was predeceased by his brother, Terrill Gahr. Ken's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Friday, February 19th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a prayer service offered on Saturday morning, February 20th at 9:30 am also at the funeral home. Ken will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 75 North Church, Sparta, NJ 07871. All services are entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
