Obituary of William D. Van Vliet

William D. Van Vliet of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 59 years old. Bill was born on June 5, 1961 in Newark, NJ to the late Widmer and the late Gail Briese. Bill was a raised in Kearny, NJ and moved to Hopatcong 27 years ago. He was a mechanic employed by Mt. Olive Township for many years before retiring. Bill enjoyed NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed Legos and watching the NY Giants, but most importantly Bill loved spending time with his loving family. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Margaret (Dunn), his sons, Bill and his wife Tara and Daniel and his partner Kyle and his cherished grandchildren, Ben and Riley. Bill's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Thursday, March 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a funeral service on Friday morning, March 12th at 10:00 am also at the funeral home. Bill will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
