Obituary of Marie A. Hackett

Marie A. Hackett, a resident of Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains, passed away Thursday April 29, 2021. She was 95. Born on May 2, 1925 in Newark to the late Zorito and the late Acatina (Toscano) Vespasiano, she lived in Pompton Plains for the last 13 years. Prior to living in Pompton Plains, she was a long term resident of West Orange. A homemaker, Marie was a devoted wife and mother to her sons and family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing and her volunteer activities at her church and community civic organizations, along with her weekly card games with her friends. A devout Roman Catholic and parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in West Orange, she was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club, Altar Rosary Society and a volunteer bingo worker for many years. Devoted wife of the late Francis A. Hackett (former Captain, West Orange Police Dept.). Beloved mother of Robert Hackett (Barbara) and William Hackett (Donna). Cherished grandmother of Karen Royce (Larry), Jennifer Munson (Jason) and David Hackett. Loving great grandmother of Lawrence Royce, Christian Royce and Cecilia Munson. Dear sister of the late Anthony and the late Louis Vespasiano, the late Adeline Burns, the late Yolanda Best and the late Claire Resciniti. Arrangements are private.
