Obituary of Michael J. Rahill

Michael J. Rahill of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He was 74 years old. Michael was born on March 6, 1947 in Queens, NY to the late Frank T. and the late Bridgit (McWeeny) Rahill. Michael was employed as manager for Verizon in NY City for 35 years before retiring and he was a longtime resident of Hopatcong. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam War Veteran where he served 2 combat tours as a River Rat. Mr. Rahill also volunteered at several veteran charities and assisted those veterans in need. Michael enjoyed bowling, traveling with his wife and supporting his grandchildren sporting events. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margit (nee Gregorencsics) his son, Michael Rahill & his wife, Kelly, his cherished grandchildren, Brendan and Lily and his brother, John Rahill. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Frank Rahill in 2021. Michael's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Monday, May 10th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Catholic Prayer Service offered 7:30 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. Michael will be interred with full military honors at Washington Crossings National Veterans Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, Pa. 18940 on Tuesday morning, May 25th at 9:30 am. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at the cemetery. All funeral services are under the direction of and entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home.
