Obituary of Eleanor Ruth Barricella

Eleanor Ruth Barricella, 86, long time Hopatcong resident, passed away on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at Mountainside Medical Center in Glen Ridge, NJ surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 21, 1934 to the late Eddie and Ruth Schurig in Cliffside Park, NJ, Eleanor resided in Hopatcong and Barnegat prior to moving to Colonial Manor in Hackettstown. She loved cooking for her family, playing cards, bingo and trips to Atlantic City to try her luck at the slot machines. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Frank "Eddie" in 2012 and a sister Florence Kelemen. Survivors include two sons Thomas and wife Cindy and Edward and wife Sophia, three grandchildren Tommy Barricella, Nicole Barricella and Nicholas Barricella, great granddaughter Skylar Rose, two brothers Bob Schurig and Eddie Schurig and her canine companion Casey. Eleanor's Life Celebration will include a memorial gathering on Friday September 17 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Prayer Service will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township.
