Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Huselton

Mary Elizabeth (Marylib) Huselton, 99, of Hopatcong, passed away on Tuesday October 19, 2021, at her home in Hopatcong just 7-weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Born on December 7, 1921, in Carlisle, PA to the late James and Harriet (Koons) Stuart, Mary grew up on the family farm built by her grandfather. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry from Dickinson College in Carlisle and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Mary worked for Calco Chemical Company in Bound Brook, NJ and met her husband, Elbert while working there. She also worked as a substitute teacher at Morris Plains Borough School and was a realtor at Hurley Realtors in Morris Plains. Mary was a past member of the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church for 33 years, a past resident of Heath Village in Hackettstown, NJ, member of the Lake Hopatcong Power Squadron and the Morris County Women’s Republican Committee. Mary loved spending time with her family and entertaining. She was an avid gardener and nature lover. Mary enjoyed boating and doing arts and crafts. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Elbert P. Huselton in 2017, brother Samuel Stuart, grandson Justin M. Day and brothers in law Joseph Huselton, Sandford Rice, and Fred Clinton. Survivors include her daughter Jane H. Day (Barry), sons James E. Huselton (Mary Rose), John K. Huselton (Patricia) and Joseph D. Huselton (Paula), eight grandchildren Jason Day, Eric, Kara, Laura, Jamie, Jesse, Katie, and Jake. Two great grandchildren Julia and Natalie, sister Julie Ann Rice and sisters in law Peggy Stuart and Marjory Clinton; and her elder care giver, Jackie, who provided compassion and companionship in her twilight years and which our family is sincerely grateful. Mary’s Life Celebration will include a graveside service on Saturday October 23, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Centerville Cemetery, 632 South Delaware Drive, Mt. Bethel, PA 18343. All are invited to meet at the cemetery prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Heart Association to honor her late grandson, Justin Day.
