Dylan Flinchum

Obituary of Dylan James Flinchum

Dylan James Flinchum of Andover passed away Thursday November 11, 2021 at home. He was 12. Born in Newton, Dylan was a student in the Andover School District where he spent 5 fun years surrounded by love at the Florence M. Burd Elementary School. Dylan loved dinosaurs, all things Disney, spending time with his family and yearly vacations to the shore. He enjoyed doing the many crafts Mommy bought for him, listening to Daddy play the guitar and sing to him. His favorite spot was on the couch snuggled up with Mommy, Daddy and all his pets, reading books and watching movies. Dylan fought his battle with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy with an unimaginable strength and resilience. He beat all the odds and taught so many what unconditional love, perseverance and strength really looks like. He allowed his family to live a full life filled with adventures while creating memories, always leading the way for us on this journey. There isn't a person who met Dylan who hasn't fallen in love and been changed by him. Dylan has been and always will be a true hero in the hearts of all who know him. Beloved son of Michael and Melissa (Larsen) Flinchum. Cherished grandson of Tom and Carolyn Larsen and James and Marie Flinchum. Dear nephew of Mike and Michele Sulpy, Kristen and Arthur Czech, Matthew Flinchum and Martha Talos. Loved cousin of Michael and Matthew Sulpy and AJ and Kiley Czech. Also survived by his protective pets June, Gibson, Daphne and Ella who always made sure they were close by keeping him warm and greeted in heaven by his beloved best friend and girl since birth, Morgan. Our family is so thankful for a village of people who loved and supported us each day of this journey. Many beloved teachers, therapists, doctors and nurses, especially his long-term nurse Emlyn Tebangin who made sure each day they were together was filled with love and fun. A Life Celebration will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Dylan Flinchum Rock On Foundation. (www.dylanrockon.org).
